The city itself has plenty of tourist attractions and you can also enjoy many of the resorts in Mangalore. Agumbe is one of the places to visit near Mangalore within 100 km where you will find a scarce crowd. If you visit the place during the monsoon, the waterfalls and dense forests in Agumbe will look even better. The only Rainforest Research Station in the country is located here.

Kundadri Hill is one of the most preferred hill stations around Mangalore that is popular amongst people who want to totally relax on their holiday. Apart from the dense forests and breathtaking streams, you can also visit the Jain temple here. Kundadri hills Ancient Jain temple is located with dense forests in the Western Ghats in Shimoga District Karnataka State, India. It is 70 km from Udupi city. This hill is known for the 17th-century Jain temple dedicated to Tirthankara and the place is known to have given shelter to Acharya Kundakunda during earlier centuries. Kundadri is also known as a Medicinal plant conservation area with more than 100+ Varieties of medicinal plants.

Coorg is one of the popular and best places to visit near Mangalore. The weather is absolutely pleasant here, and the hill station is covered with lush greenery. It is quite impossible to get over the beauty of Coorg. If you have time, you can try elephant rides, rafting, trekking, etc, and stay for a couple of days in Coorg for a splendid experience. Nestled among the ethereal mountains that line the southernmost border of Karnataka is the stunning region of Coorg. This exotic hill-station is a breath of fresh air to those who revel in nature and wildlife. If in South India, Coorg is a must-visit! From nature trails to coffee plantations to lip-smacking cuisine, Coorg has it all.

Biligiriranga Hills

Give a treat to the animal lover in you by visiting Biligiriranga Hills or BR Hills, as called by locals. The wildlife sanctuary is perched at a height of 5,091 feet and covers an area of 540 km. You will be able to spot a variety of animals and more than 250 species of birds there. You can also get your blood pumping by rafting in the River Cauvery. There are also some of the best trekking trails in Biligiriranga Hills; thus, you can go trekking as well. Biligirirangan Hills has a temperature range that varies hugely. Summer temperatures can soar to the high 30s while winter can go below 10o Celsius. If you intend to river raft, try to go in the monsoon. Keep in mind, however, that rains can be unpredictable and can put a damper on plans. The best time to visit Biligirirangan Hills is from October to May as you can trek, camp, and go on safaris.
